DISPATCH OF THE DAY — July 3, 2012 — Random Rants . . .

Random Rants

You know what really grinds my gears  . . .

#1 — Wednesday Holidays — Don’t get me wrong, I am a stanch Patriot, but Wednesday holidays causes the whole week to be screwed up. Some people take the day or two before off, some take the day or two after off and some people take the entire darn week off. In short, nobody can be reached. It wasn’t like this years ago. People would take the one day off and that was it. We also used to work on Fridays in the summer time as well . . . (Thursdays are the new Fridays in summer time Minnesota) . . . but that is another rant.

#2 — Instant (and Excessive) Analysis — Thanks to 24 hour news channels everything, and I mean everything, is analyzed to death, in real-time, mostly by people who have no idea what they are talking about. Or worse, by people trying to say something provocative so they will be asked back. Viewers must demand it or else they wouldn’t do it, but it has caused me to quit watching news channels (even Fox).

#3 —  Minneapolis Downtown Street Parking — On first avenue you park several feet from the curb so that there is a bike lane between where you park and the curb. The person who designed  this must have attended the Jolly Fats Weehawken School of Traffic Management (certificates given for attending a morning seminar at the Marriott). That, or they have a demented sense of humor.

#4 — Monday Morning Quarterbacks — related to #2 above . . . it has become a national obsession to second guess every political, sports, and entertainment decision. Most of the people with the “answers” who are doing the second guessing are usually people who never have been in a position to make any kind of important decision.

That’s all for now.
